Assessment of Cytomorphological Differences in Sorghum Fertility Restoration

چکیده

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) is ranked fifth as a cereal crop after maize, rice, wheat, and barley based on global cultivation area. However, heat drought stresses cause improper fertility restoration inefficient pollination, severely affecting sorghum productivity. The discovery of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) milestone for commercializing hybrids. This study assessed the pollen in vitro germination percentage female lines F1 hybrids using two years pooled data with multivariate analysis. principal component analysis (PCA) showed that PC1 represented 82.8% variation, whereas PCA revealed significant genetic divergence 97.1%. Agglomerative hierarchical clustering marked cluster II genotypes have high contribution, which can generate superior high-yielding Three male-sterile exhibited 100% sterility, morphological attributes, viz., pinpointed, flattened, low anther extrusion, starch-digested pollens. Pollen behavior nine were fully fertile, eighteen partially three completely sterile amongst thirty findings this will facilitate identification potential restorers exploitation breeding programs.

Fertility Restoration of the Sorghum A3 Male- Sterile Cytoplasm through a Sporophytic Mechanism Derived from Sudangrass

Fertility restoration of sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] lines carrying the IS1112C (A3 group) male-sterile cytoplasm has been documented as a two-gene gametophytic mechanism involving complementary action of restoring alleles designated Rf3 and Rf4, as derived from IS1112C. Fertility restoration capability has also been reported from sudangrass (S. bicolor subsp. drummondii) populations....

Heritable Effect of Plant Water Availability Conditions on Restoration of Male Fertility in the “9E” CMS-Inducing Cytoplasm of Sorghum

Heritable changes of phenotype arising in plant ontogenesis by the influence of environmental factors belong to the most intriguing genetic phenomena. An unusual inheritance pattern was detected during examination of male fertility restoration in the CMS-inducing "9E" type cytoplasm of sorghum: Rf-genes were functional in self-pollinated progeny of F(1) hybrids yet were either not expressed or ...

Cosegregation of single genes associated with fertility restoration and transcript processing of sorghum mitochondrial orf107 and urf209.

Defective nuclear-cytoplasmic interactions leading to aberrant microgametogenesis in sorghum carrying the IS1112C male-sterile cytoplasm occur very late in pollen maturation. Amelioration of this condition, the restoration of pollen viability, involves a novel two-gene gametophytic system, wherein genes designated Rf3 and Rf4 are required for viability of individual gametes. Rf3 is tightly link...

the role of application of dynamic assessment approach in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels

the present study sought to investigate the role of dynamic assessment (da) in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels. to this end, after conducting the quick placement test, 60 iranian efl learners were assigned to two groups with different language proficiency levels. in both groups each participant wrote two compositions, one before and one af...

Inheritance of the fertility restoration and genotyping of rice lines at the restoring fertility (Rf) loci using molecular markers

The combination of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) in one parent and a restorer gene (Rf) to restore fertility in another are indispensable for the development of hybrid varieties. To genotype rice lines at the restoring fertility (Rf) loci, 38 lines were crossed with a sterile tester (rfrf) line. Pollen fertility test was performed to identify sterile and fertile F1 hybrids. Seven lines were ...
